Liquid Emulsion and Cyanotypes

This week has been very exciting because I've done lots of darkroom stuff at college. I've finally tried liquid emulsion and it's worked so I'm very happy. Here are two of them that are dry, I still have another three drying at college:

The top one is on watercolour paper and the bottom one is on perspex so I'm glad the majority of it stayed on. I also did more cyanotypes, which are much better than the ones I did last time, on old tea towel and watercolour paper:

And in other news, some of my photos were up in the really awesome Papergirl exhibition in town:

So if you're in Birmingham on saturday you should look out for people on bikes handing out really cool pieces of art, and make sure you get some.

Pinhole Prints

Yesterday afternoon I got out the pinhole camera I made out of a shoebox just over two years ago. I also got out the box of bits of cut up photo paper that I hadn't used since I made the camera. I took a few photos, finishing off the paper, and developed them last night in my makeshift darkroom.

The camera's still light-proof and I developed the paper successfully so I'm really happy. The only thing was that there were obviously problems with a couple of the pieces of paper. I remember possibly being a little bit careless with the paper when I first used it years ago because it was just a few sheets of cut-up stuff. So I think that could explain one of the photos which looks half already exposed as well as being a double exposure, so I obviously forgot to mark it as an exposed piece and develop it last time.

I can't wait to do some more though!

Buried film

I've wanted to try damaging some film for ages and it fitted into this unit, so I decided to bury some negatives so that I'd already have original versions of the photos saved and it wouldn't break my camera or anything like that. I buried them for about a week and scanned them again, and this is how they turned out.

Harry Blocker and the Pivot of Azkaban - SRT vs CRoC

Here are some of my favourite photos from the bout between Severn Roller Torrent vs Cardiff Roller Collective on Saturday in Gloucester. It was an insanely tense bout and really close the whole time, but CRoC won in the end.
